Commonly Asked Questions
Q: How big?
A: We are only limited by the size of the field itself. To date
we have created designs of up to a record breaking 100,000 sq ft.
Q: How is this achieved?
A: Pitch marking dyes are used to paint the design onto the ground,
these are available in any colour and are weather proof up to 4
weeks at which point we re-apply the colouring.
Q: What effect does the process have on the environment?
A: None whatsoever - water based, bio-degradable, non toxic, lead
free paint is used. The dyed grass or crop is cut away at the end
of the booked period and any remnants dissolve causing no harm to
any plants or wildlife.
Q: Can you reproduce our logotype and colours accurately?
A: Yes, there are no technical limitations on complexity or colour.
Q: Who owns the land?
A: Flightpath Media rents privately owned land from local farmers
and landowners.
Q: On approach for how long is it visible?
A: This depends on how far from the landing point the sign is located.
Close to the runway it will appear very big but go by quicker, farther
away it will take up less of the view but be visible for longer.
Q: What about aerial photography?
A: If the site is more than 5 miles from the runway we are able
to use High Spy remote control helicopters with a camera mount to
photograph the sign.
Sites closer to the runway can be photographed using "high
level" photography, this is achieved using a trailer-mounted
telescopic mast (maximum height 100 feet) to which is fitted a remotely
operated medium format camera system. Further information on this
topic available on request.
